The latest installment of the always-cool NY Times Anatomy of a Scene focuses on one of the more memorable sequences of the year so far: the Halo jump in Gareth Edwards’ GODZILLA.

Anyone who is curious about the creation of the scene, which sees Aaron Taylor-Johnson descend upon a hellish San Francisco as Godzilla fights off his monstrous opponents, should enjoy this brief video as Edwards narrates and explains how it was crafted. It must be said that I was caught off guard by which shots turned out to be CG and which are the real deal. I think you will be too.
