The name of this video says it all, as YouTube’s Steve Ramsden mashes up the unlikely tandem of Wes Anderson’s THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL with Stanley Kubrick’s THE SHINING in brilliant fashion. He came up with the idea after noticing how similar the directors frame their shots, thus resulting in this wonderful video THE GRAND OVERLOOK HOTEL.
What’s noticeably great about Ramsden’s video is how perfectly edited the entire thing is. While it’s only just over a minute long, he seamlessly blends the two films together in a way that not only highlights the humor of Anderson’s film, but the sheer terror of Kubrick’s as well.
