There have been a ton of games over the years capitalizing on the ALIEN franchise (and more recently, ALIEN VS PREDATOR), but this is the first game I’ve seen that really emulates the atmosphere of Ridley Scott’s original ALIEN. So much so, that I thought the player was actually on the Nostromo.

Check out the trailer here:

Here’s the synopsis:

Alien: Isolation is a first-person survival horror game capturing the fear and tension evoked by Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic film. Players find themselves in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger as an unpredictable, ruthless Xenomorph is stalking and killing deep in the shadows. Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.

With E3 in full swing, there’s a ton of gaming announcements and gameplay footage that have me excited (I’m all about Batman: Arkham Knight) but the film fanatic in me really wants to see how Alien: Isolation plays. It’s reminiscent of the first Dead Space, but I imagine the focus on suspense will be even stronger. I’m hoping the final product can live up to what the trailer promises without becoming monotonous.

Alien: Isolation will be available for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC on October 7, 2014.
