Cool Videos: Anna Kendrick performs the “cup song” from Pitch Perfect in new music video

I still have yet to see PITCH PERFECT, the college-age Glee pic starring Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wison, Brittany Snow, and Anna Camp, but it ended up being a pretty big hit for the intended demographic (a sequel is currently in the works). In the film, Kendrick’s character performs an a capella version of Lulu and the Lampshade’s “You’re Gonna Miss Me” which has spawned a cavalcade of YouTube inspired copycats and requests for the actress to perform it at every guest appearance she makes. The video is well shot, but had nothing to do with Kendrick’s character from the film, serving as a standalone music video, rather than a tie-in to the film.

Kendrick is a lovable actress with some fine comedy skills and she’s come a long way. I thought she was great in Jason Reitman‘s UP IN THE AIR and SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD (I’ll forgive her for TWILIGHT) and she’s got a lot of potential to take the lead, especially in the comedy genre.

Grab a cup:

Kendrick will next be seen in the apocalypse comedy RAPTURE-PALOOZA on May 10, 2013 and GET A JOB with Bryan Cranston and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.
