Cool Videos: Funny or Die depicts Sofia Coppola’s The Little Mermaid

JoBloJoBlo

It hasn’t been long since it was announced that Sofia Coppola would be adapting Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Mermaid for the silver screen (live-action this time around). If you were wondering how a Coppola Little Mermaid might look, Funny or Die has a pretty accurate depiction online for your viewing needs.

All jokes aside, I’m more than curious as to what Sofia Coppola can bring to the table. I haven’t been too hip to her latest cinematic endeavors, but she definitely has an established style that may yield some interesting results when taken to the realm of classic fairy tale. One item to note is that the upcoming fish tale is being penned by Caroline Thompson, who also wrote EDWARD SCISSORHANDS and THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (among others). I’d say she has plenty of experience to make this live-action adaptation work.

Sofia Coppola‘s THE LITTLE MERMAID is still in the early stages of pre-production, so there have been no casting or release date established yet.
