MAN OF STEEL is a divisive movie that is either loved or hated. I have not met many people who just liked it, but I am sure they are out there. For the majority though, this Honest Trailer will either really piss them off or will result in a standing ovation. The crew tackles all of the controversial aspects of the movie that reintroduced Superman to a new generation despite removing all the happiness from the story.
While I liked MAN OF STEEL quite a bit, I think this Honest Trailer hits the nail right on the head. Going back and looking at the cartoon and Christopher Reeve versions of Superman, hell even the Bryan Singer take, the character is a positive figure who stands for truth, justice, and the American Way. Despite being the 21st Century and not wanting to alienate those who don’t subscribe to American ideology, Snyder has instead created the xenophobic result of our times.
But, Superman shouldn’t be depressing. Sigh, I guess we will have to wait and see what happens when he and Batman fight.
