It seems everywhere we turn we’re getting news on remakes coming our way. From OLDBOY to EVIL DEAD, the onslaught just doesn’t stop! And it looks like it won’t be stopping anytime soon. That’s right folks, I’ve got an update for you all regarding yet another remake!
As if the title of this article didn’t give it away the remake in question is the ROBOCOP reboot that’s been kicked around for a few years. Unlike previous updates on the project today’s news doesn’t have anything to do with who’s directing this thing or if it’s even happening, but today we actually have some casting rumblings to tell you all about.
You see the folks over at Twitch got word that none other than Chris Pine is at the top of MGM’s wishlist for the lead in ROBOCOP. So there goes that from out of left field. Chris Pine? Wouldn’t have been my first guess but dare I say I’m digging this? I really dig Pine’s work and I really dig ROBOCOP but could this be enough to make this reboot OK by us genre fans? Simply no, it isn’t. But it’s a nice start.
Mind you Chris Pine (above) has yet to be offered anything so we’re going to go ahead and slap this under the title of rumor for now. What says you guys? Would you like to see this one pan out? Spit some bullets below and keep it here for more on Jose Padilha’s ROBOCOP as we hear it!
