Well, this looks suprisingly fun.
I hadn't heard of CHEAP THRILLS until today, but after seeing the trailer it looks like it could be a dark horse for early 2014. Starring David Koechner (ANCHORMAN), Pat Healy (RESCUE DAWN), Sara Paxton (THE INNKEEPERS), and an almost unrecognizeable Ethan Embry (CAN'T HARDLY WAIT), this black comedy/thriller looks like a mash-up of "would you like to play a game?" SAW and the excessive antics of THE HANGOVER, which makes for a pretty compelling premise. Take a look and then we'll talk about this.
Dollar if you watch this:
Yeah, it's got some low rent qualities, but that might actually work in its favor. The film debuted at SXSW earlier this year and has garnered some good buzz since then. I dig the whole "what would you do for money" aspect, which starts off as a fun dare game and turns into a much deadlier one with higher stakes. I don't know that CHEAP THRILLS will change lives, but if it can live up to what it teases, then I'm game for a 90-minute distraction.
CHEAP THRILLS is set for release on March 21, 2014.
