Creepy children and loud ghosts abound in the trailer for Hammer horror film The Quiet Ones

Hammer Horror began the long road back to iconic status with the succesful THE WOMAN IN BLACK. While the film itself was just okay, it was propelled by Daniel Radcliffe in the leading role. Their next film doesn’t have nearly as big of a name on the marquee, but this trailer for THE QUIET ONES certainly aims to scare.

THE QUIET ONES stars Jared Harris and Sam Claflin as paranormal researchers looking to capture photographic evidence of poltergeists. What happens next is blah, blah, blah. Okay, so the story isn’t exactly revolutionary, but as THE CONJURING proved this year, a horror movie doesn’t have to be original to effectively scare the hell out of you.

THE QUIET ONES comes from director John Pogue who also helmed horror sequel QUARANTINE 2. That doesn’t instill a ton of confidence in the finished product, but visually this movie looks to hit the same notes as THE CONJURING. I just hope that this based on a true story doesn’t rely on the cheap thrills as much as it does genuine scares.

THE QUIET ONES hit theaters on April 11, 2014.
