Critics are refusing to review The New Mutants due to lack of safety!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

So, against all the odds, THE NEW MUTANTS – the oft-delayed superhero horror film – is finally getting an official theatrical release! Yay! Problem is, of course, that most theaters are closed right now, and so most people won't be able to watch it even if they wanted to.

This includes mainstream critics! On Twitter, both A.A. Scott of AV Club and Brian Tallerico of Rogerebert.com tweeted about the issues surrounding reviewing the new release, mainly that neither online screeners nor socially-distanced screenings have been offered, which you can read about below:

Here's the official synopsis:

Five young mutants, just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will, fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.

Meanwhile, THE NEW MUTANTS – directed by Josh Boone and starring Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Charlie Heaton – will apparently still hit theaters Friday, August 28th!

So what do you guys think? Planning on risking it to see it in the theaters, or wait for streaming? Either way, sound off below!
