CSI: Vegas: Paul Guilfoyle returning as Jim Brass for revival

CSI, Paul Guilfoyle, revival

CSI was the biggest thing on television for well over a decade, so it's not exactly a huge surprise that CBS officially announced that they would be bringing the crime drama back. The revival will see William Petersen and Jorja Fox returning as Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle, respectively, but they aren't the only franchise veterans who will be back for more.

Deadline has reported that Paul Guilfoyle, who played Jim Brass in the original series, will be back for CSI: Vegas. Unfortunately, Guilfoyle won't be a series regular as he's only slated to return for two episodes. The outlet has also reported that Jamie McShane (Bloodline) has joined the cast as well as Anson Wix, a civil attorney. "A self-made scrapper, he’s someone you’d want in your corner, but the last person you’d want to face off," reads Deadline's description. "After years of hard work, he now has his own practice." In addition to William Petersen, Jorja Fox, Paul Guilfoyle, and Jamie McShane, CSI: Vegas will also star Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, Mel Rodriguez, and Mandeep Dhillon; Wallace Langham will also be reprising his role of David Hodges. The revival will open a "brand new chapter in Las Vegas, the city where it all began" as the city faces an "existential threat that could bring down the Crime Lab, a brilliant team of forensic investigators must welcome back old friends and deploy new techniques to preserve and serve justice in Sin City." In a statement, President of CBS Entertainment Kelly Kahl said:

Twenty-one years ago, we launched CSI and watched in awe as this new cinematic series launched an entire genre and became a groundbreaking juggernaut that still has global resonance today. We are thrilled to welcome the next generation of forensic criminalists to the CSI brand and unite them with the legendary characters from the past who we still love, including the extraordinary Billy Petersen and Jorja Fox. Crimefighting technology has advanced dramatically over the last several years, and combined with classic CSI storytelling, we can’t wait to watch this new CSI team do what they do best: follow the evidence.

I was certainly a big fan of CSI in its heyday, but I probably haven't watched it since William Petersen left the series. That said, I'm excited to see what this new revival will bring.
