Just say anything involving "from the director of DEATHGASM" and I'm already interested. Add Daniel Radcliffe, who has done nothing but make interesting career choices since he walked off the Harry Potter set for that last time, and you've got a movie that is already a must-see.

GUNS AKIMBO will bring DEATHGASM director Jason Lei Howden and Radcliffe together, and it sounds like quite a trip.

Radcliffe plays

Miles who spends his days in a dead-end job, pining for his beautiful ex-girlfriend Nova. His mundane existence is turned upside-down when he finds himself enrolled on a dark net website that forces complete strangers to fight in a city-wide game of death so that their gladiatorial battles can be live-streamed worldwide to a fanatical audience.

Contestants are chosen by a clandestine gang known as Schism, who handicap the weaker contestant to further stack the odds against them. Initially, Miles’ lifetime of running from his problems pays off as he manages to elude his first opponent but when Nova is kidnapped, he must finally stop running and overcome his fears to fight for the girl he loves.

While I'm a little over concepts that sound like BATTLE ROYALE or THE BELKO EXPERIMENT (throw a little THE PURGE in there as well), the fact that this will be written and helmed by Howden makes me think the old "strangers fight to the death" song will have some new notes this time around.

Joe Neurauter and Felipe Marino are producing for Occupant, with Michael Mailis from Hyperion Entertainment and Will Clarke and Andy Mayson from Altitude executive producing. Neurauter and Marino’s previous producing credits include Corin Hardy’s THE HALLOW and ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE. Altitude’s recent credits include THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS.

Altitude and Occupant will introduce the project to international buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.
