Bet you didn’t see this one coming – according to the fine folks over at Film Music Reporter Tim Burton has found the man he wants to score his upcoming stop-motion project FRANKENWEENIE. Drum roll please? …. That man is none other than Danny Elfman! You know… the guy who’s scored nearly every Tim Burton film.
Hey there’s nothing wrong with Burton playing it safe. Hell the dude already casts ninety percent of the same people in all his flicks, including FRANKENWEENIE, so Elfman joining the project should come as no surprise.
A heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life — with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.
FRANKENWEENIE was penned by John August, another Burton alumn, and stars Winona Ryder, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Martin Short and Catherine O’Hara. Hey if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, right?
FRANKENWEENIE, which is being tapped as a black and white, stop motion 3D affair, is set to hit theaters everywhere on October 5, 2012. That’s well over a year away folks. You know what that means right? Loads more FRANKENWEENIE updates to come our way in the next year! Oh joy. Wonder if Helena Bonham Carter is going to lend her voice to this one too? Taking bets now if anyone is interested.
