Dark Sky brings Spanish horror film Para Elisa to DVD/VOD September 1st

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

The last time we reported on writer/director Juanra Fernandez’s debut film PARA ELISA, it was making its U.S. premiere at Screamfest in October of 2013. Nearly two years later, it will finally be hitting DVD and VOD, thanks to Dark Sky Films.

Starring Ona Casamiquela, Luisa Gavasa, and Ana Turpin, the Spanish-language film tells the following story:

Desperate for some post-graduation cash, party girl Ana answers a babysitting ad. She arrives for an interview at the elegant home of Diamantina, a former child prodigy pianist who is now an eccentric old woman who collects antique toys and dolls. Ana is disturbed by Diamantina’s odd behavior and horrified to discover that her child, Elisa, is not a child but rather a deranged woman her own age. Before Ana really understands what’s happening, she finds herself trapped in the house and made to serve as Elisa’s new toy – a toy that like many others before it may well be broken.

It’s a promising set-up that could make for a disturbing film, and the film is said to play out with violent intensity that escalates to a nightmarish climax… Very nice.

Dark Sky Films will be releasing PARA ELISA on September 1st, and I’m putting it on my “To Watch” list. Will it be on yours?
