Adam Green’s HATCHET 2 is currently filming it up in Los Angeles and we’ve been getting updates from the set left and right from Green. But here’s something new… Could HATCHET 2.. well actually HATCHET… be the start of a franchise?! We all suspected Victor Crowley would be today’s Jason Voorhees or Freddy Krueger after HATCHET’s success, but nothing has really been confirmed.. until now! Sort of..
You see news broke today over at Variety that Dark Sky Films and ArieScope Pictures have just snatched HATCHET 2 and company from Anchor Bay with plans to make it a ‘franchise property.’ Well how about that. Last I heard Green didn’t have much lined up after HATCHET 2 so could we be in line to see a few adventures of Mr. Crowley’s? What do you guys think? Are you all for a HATCHET franchise or would you rather it stay a one-two shot? I’m thinking if any recent film has that franchise potential that we loved so much in the 80s and 90s, it would be HATCHET. Now mind you there’s no announcement here about HATCHET 3 but if HATCHET 2 is a success I’m pretty sure we’ll be hearing about more installments of this new ‘franchise property.’
No solid synopsis for HATCHET 2 has been released but we can assume it follows Victor Crowley as he hacks and slashes his way through those swamps, perhaps with a bit more backstory involving Crowley and the mysterious Reverend Zombie? The film stars Danielle Harris, AJ Bowen, Tom Holland, R.A. Mihailoff, Tony Todd, Parry Shen, John Carl Buechler, Nick Principe, and Alexis Peters. I’m sure many more HATCHET 2 updates will be hitting us hard and fast so be sure to keep it here for updates!
