One, two…Freddy’s comin’ for you!
Man, I was seriously starting to wonder if we’d ever be able to catch the awesome sounding retrospective documentary NEVER SLEEP AGAIN: THE ELM STREET LEGACY. I mean, we’ve been covering the project for what seems like ever, the last time being 6 weeks ago when an official site for the flick launched. Well guys and ghouls, we’ve just inched that much closer to finally watching the damn thing, as we now know Darknight Pictures has acquired domestic television and international rights to the film. Hot dawwwg!
Directed by Daniel Farrands and Andrew Kasch (from a Thommy Huston script), NEVER SLEEP AGAIN is a definitive behind the scenes retrospective on the twenty-five year history of the horror epic A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, exploring the creation of Freddy Krueger and the impact the series continues to have on the horror genre and pop culture.
Synopsis: Fans will enter the world of Freddy Krueger and A Nightmare On Elm Street like never before: exploring what spurred mastermind Wes Craven to craft the first groundbreaking film; delving deep behind the scenes of the original and all of its sequels; learning how the cast and crew brought their worst nightmares to life; and finally, understanding the impact the series and its mythos have had on modern pop culture and the horror genre.
Narrated by and starring Heather Langenkamp, featuring interviews with the cast and crew spanning every film, and loaded with clips, photographs, storyboards, conceptual art, publicity materials, archival documents and behind-the-scenes footage, Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy is the most exhaustive account of what many have called the best, most frightening and imaginative horror franchise in motion picture history. There are over 100 interviews from cast and crew, including directors Wes Craven, Renny Harlin, and Ronny Yu, as well as talent John Saxon, rockstar Alice Cooper, Monica Keena (Freddy vs Jason), and Freddy Krueger himself, Robert Englund.
Definitely sounds like a fascinating watch. Personally, I wanna hear Amanda Wyss talk about shooting the scene in which her character Tina is gorily dragged across the ceiling in Fred Krueger’s very first onscreen kill. I’m still haunted by that scene!
The documentary is currently in post-production and is to be released in the US this spring.
Darknight Pictures is a division of Camelot Entertainment Group.
FREDDY VS JASON hottie Monica Keena!
