David Duchovny comments on FOX possibly bringing back The X-Files

The X-Files fans received some good news recently when it was revealed FOX is interested in reviving the sci-fi series, with the network reportedly contacting Chris Carter and stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny about a new season. Anderson is down for more X-Files, and Carter probably is as well, but what about Duchovny? I highly doubt most fans want more Mulder-less episodes.

While speaking with USA Today, David Duchovny said he's "more than happy and excited to bring it back and do it again" with Gillian Anderson and Chris Carter. Duchovny goes on to say he believes new episodes of The X-Files will probably "happen sooner rather than later," however it won't be a full season.

We'll see what form, how many (episodes). Certainly I can't nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We're all old, we don't have the energy for a full season [laughs].

Perhaps FOX will do a limited-run event series for The X-Files, like they did for 24. But honestly, I don't care if it ends up only being a single episode. I'm just happy Mulder and Scully might be back on the small screen in the near future.
