David Yates’ Fantastic Beasts might be causing trouble for his Tarzan movie

2015 hasn't been too kind to Warner Bros. so far, with JUPITER ASCENDING, THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E., ENTOURAGE, WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS, and (most recently) PAN all underperforming or straight up bombing at the box office, and the studio might have another big flop on its hands with director David Yates' $180 million 3D TARZAN movie starring Alexander Skarsgard, Margot Robbie and Christoph Waltz.

Filming for TARZAN wrapped up a little over a year ago, but apparently the film isn't finished yet, and Yates has been reviewing edits of it on weekends while also focusing on FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM during the week, which started production a couple of months ago. Both are Warner Bros. movies, and while a studio executive tells THR it was always the plan for the director to pull a juggling act with the two projects, one source is concerned that the Harry Potter spinoff schedule has gotten in the way of the post-production work that still needs to be done on Yates' visual effects-heavy ape-man flick.

Another issue is early TARZAN test screenings reportedly didn't go well, and since FANTASTIC BEASTS is the higher priority, if the film needs reshoots Yates might be too busy to do them. It's possible WB will just push back its release date, which would give him more time to properly complete the movie, although we are also still nine months away from when it is currently scheduled to open. Do you think Warner Bros. should be worried about TARZAN?

TARZAN (right now, anyway) is due out on July 1, 2016, while FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM has been set to hit theaters on November 18, 2016.
