Sharpen your fangs and get ready to take a bite out of an inside look at Netflix’s Day Shift. Rated R for strong violence, gore, and language, Day Shift stars Jamie Foxx as Bud Jablonski, a hard-working, blue-collar dad who wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted 8-year-old daughter. His mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his natural source of income: hunting and killing vampires.

In the new video, Foxx gives audiences a behind-the-scenes look at the film directed by J.J. Perry. As you’d expect, the movie is overflowing with vampire-related goodness and plenty of adrenaline-pumping set-pieces to keep you on the edge of your seat. Day Shift marks the feature directorial debut of stunt coordinator and second unit director J.J. Perry. Day Shift is the first produced screenplay for Tyler Tice, whose script received some polishing from Shay Hatten (John Wick: Chapter 3Army of the Dead).

Foxx is joined in the cast by Snoop Dogg (Bones), Scott Adkins (Accident Man), Dave Franco (The Disaster Artist), Meagan Good (Monster Hunter), Karla Souza (How to Get Away with Murder), Eric Lange (Narcos), Zion Broadnax (Holly Day), Natasha Liu Bordizzo (The Society), Oliver Masucci (The Swarm), Steve Howey (Shameless), and C.S. Lee (Dexter).

John Wick franchise director Chad Stahelski is producing the movie with Jason Spitz for 87Eleven Entertainment, alongside Shaun Redick and Yvette Yates Redick of Impossible Dream Entertainment. Foxx, Datari Turner, and Peter Baxter are executive producers.

The inside look at Day Shift offers a great look at the new film. We get to see Foxx’s Jablonski in action, but we’re also introduced to several of the bloodsuckers featured in the movie. The vampires look grotesque and agile, plus a few of them can contort their bodies in fascinating ways. It’s like the performers of Osseous Labyrinth were transformed into children of the night. I can dig it. The promo also features plenty of car chases, gunplay, and supernatural shenanigans. All told, I think Day Shift looks like a ton of fun!

Day Shift rises from the grave and onto Netflix beginning on August 12.
