The Official DAY OF THE DEAD Myspace page has posted some stills from the long-long-delayed picture, which finally has a DVD release date of April 8 set. The remake, which is apparently very loose indeed, was written by Jeffrey Reddick (TAMARA) and directed by Steve Miner (HALLOWEEN: H20, LAKE PLACID).
A mysterious virus has infected the small town of Leadville, Colorado, and the military is brought in to enforce a quarantine and stop the spread of the disease. As people perish, survivors realize that the virus is creating the walking dead who crave human flesh. Only a small number of people are immune to the virus, and those few survivors must battle to fend off the infected zombies while trying to make it out of town alive.
I must say, that cover design is disgusting. And not in a good way. A photoshopped zombie spewing a geyser of vomit containing human remains may sound like a good idea, but well… as with most things, it’s all in the execution.
A slight interest in this flick still remains, despite the fact that it’s been sitting on the shelf for over a year now. Reshoots were done last year, which hopefully improved whatever tawdry state it was in.
There are a few more (unexciting) pics at the Myspace page.
(Note: I’m pretty sure that the picture furthest down is of the new “Bub”. I’m sorry, I meant, “Bud.”)
