Last month we caught word that McG will be directing a sequel to his 2017 Netflix horror comedy THE BABYSITTER, a really fun movie that helped introduce the awesome Samara Weaving to the world. Since we're getting THE BABYSITTER 2, the immediate assumption would be that Weaving will be returning. You can't have THE BABYSITTER without THE BABYSITTER, and her homicidal character was still alive and slashing in the final moments of the first film.

But now we've gotten our hands on a cast list for THE BABYSITTER 2, and there's something odd here. Weaving's not on the list. Maybe they're keeping her return under wraps for now, and hopefully that's the case.

Even stranger is the revelation that Robbie Amell, Hana Mae Lee, Bella Thorne, and Andrew Bachelor are in the cast, despite the fact that their characters were killed the first time around.

Scripted by Dan Lagana, THE BABYSITTER 2 sees Judah Lewis back in the role of Cole, the kid who needed a babysitter in the previous film. The story:

Two years after defeating a satanic cult led by his babysitter Bee, Cole's trying to forget his past and focus on surviving high school. But when old enemies unexpectedly return, Cole will once again have to outsmart the forces of evil.

THE BABYSITTER co-stars Emily Alyn Lind, Ken Marino, Leslie Bibb, Carl McDowell, and Chris Wylde are also back for THE BABYSITTER 2.

So where the hell is Samara Weaving?

THE BABYSITTER 2 is set to begin filming in Los Angeles on October 14th. The movie is coming to us from Wonderland Sound and Vision and Boies / Schiller Film Group. McG is producing the sequel with Mary Viola and Zack Schiller, while Steven Bello, Corey Marsh, Alex Boies, Tyler Zacharia, Devin Andre, and the first film's screenwriter Brian Duffield serve as executive producers.
