Dead End job

I
don’t RANT often but I have to get this off my blade. Being that I loved the
cinematic chiller
DEAD END
by Jean Baptiste Andrea and
Fabrice Canepa, I was looking forward to owning the DVD.

The Region 2

version of the flick was in sumptuous

Widescreen, the sound was
in
Dolby Digital 5.1 while the
EXTRAS
were abundant. I expected the same
excellence from the US edition which is being distributed by Lions Gate
(it came out on November 9 2004)

Well BANG ME sideways with a Power-Tool and snap my pet
hamster’s neck with a vice-grip! The North American edition of DEAD END
sported a butchered
FULL
SCREEN
image (no Widescreen option), a poor
2.0 STEREO SOUND
and
ZERO EXTRAS
! What the hell?
Now I know this doesn’t mean much to the average “Joe” but when I shell out my
seldom green for a film that I love and that I consider to be “superior” than
the norm, I expect the best.
Call me
pissed off and call me 26 bucks under! I guess I can always sell my Region 1
version of DEAD END on Ebay (if suckers are afoot) and buy the Region 2
version instead. Conclusion: genre buffs looking to see this film in all of its
audio/visual glory; get the Region 2 version, the Region 1 issue is a DEAD END
JOB!
