Do you guys remember a couple of days ago when I discussed my heightened affinity for today’s zombie genre? I mentioned how the “creative factor” regarding the walking dead had increased exponentially, leading to many fun and original ideas. Well, today I have another example and damn, do I like it! It’s the first ever Zombie/Buddy/Road Movie: DEADHEADS (And no, it’s not about a bunch of Jerry Garcia roadies). Take a look at the plot:
An evil corporation is making ghouls for the military, and they’re transporting a bunch of them on a truck. There’s an accident and some of them get loose, which causes them to spread in this redneck town. The leads are two intelligent zombies on the truck, who wake up amidst all this and don’t know how they got there. One of the guys has a wedding ring in his pocket, but never got to propose to his girlfriend. So they embark on the road trip to find the girl he was in love with.
I’m sorry, but that concept just sounds fantastic. There’s seems to be so much unlimited potential for wild gore and physical comedy. This should come as no surprise because the brother writing/directing duo of Brett and Drew Pierce (pictured up top giving head) have a direct connection to EVIL DEAD! Get this—their father worked on the effects for the flick! They grew up being friends with Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell! Not bad influences at all!
