Deadman’s New Writer

Directing ninja and all around good guy Guillermo del Toro is currently at work writing the big screen adaptation to DC Comics’ DEADMAN, and according to Variety, he’s teamed up with newcomer Gary Dauberman to pen the script.

I’d give ya a heads up on some of Dauberman’s other work as reference, so we’d have a bit of an idea of what to expect here, but as I said… he’s new… this is his first movie… So I got nothing. But del Toro, who’s blown us away with the recent PAN’S LABYRINTH, and has a done a good job adapting comics in the past (HELLBOY, BLADE II), has never let us down so I’d say DEADMAN is in pretty good hands.

Need a refresher on the man… the DEADMAN? Deadman is the ghost of a murdered circus acrobat who has the power to possess the living in order to seek out his killer, as well as to help the innocent.. Nice frickin’ powers, and I love that he was a circus acrobat… seriously, aren’t they all?

While del Toro has only signed up to write and produce the flick, it’s not entirely out of the picture that this could be his next directing project, though nothing’s official as of yet. Stick around as we find out, and let’s hope they give us a comic adaptation that’s actually worth watching!
