Deadpool has big plans for the Superbowl, including handing out chimichangas

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

When you think of the Superbowl, what's the first thing that comes to mind? And don't say Football, because that'd be ridiculous. The correct answer is movie trailers of course, as many major studios will be laying down some big bucks in order to get as many eyeballs as possible on their game day trailers. Twentieth Century Fox's upcoming DEADPOOL will be no exception, but the merc with the mouth will have a much larger presence during the Superbowl than a mere trailer.

THR has put together a rundown of which films will have trailers popping up on game day, but considering that DEADPOOL's Superbowl marketing will be spanning the entire weekend, it stands out as the most impressive. On Friday, Ryan Reynolds will be taking over a food truck and handing out chimichangas. A screening of DEADPOOL will also take place on Friday evening at the IMAX AMC Metreon in downtown San Francisco. On Saturday, Fox and Marvel Studios will transform a locale adjacent to the stadium into Sister Margaret's Bar which is featured in the DEADPOOL film. An official press junket will take place and both Ryan Reynolds and T.J. Miller will be on-hand to answer questions, play darts, serve drinks, and more. Fox will be promoting DEADPOOL on their various social media accounts throughout the weekend, including taking over Snapchat on Sunday. Simply put, if you've somehow managed to remain blissfully ignorant of DEADPOOL's existence, that's about to change.

A synopsis for DEADPOOL:

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

DEADPOOL is set to debut on February 12, 2016.
