Deadstream trailer: found footage horror comedy comes to Shudder in October

The directing duo of Joseph Winter and Vanessa Winter have contributed a segment to the found footage horror anthology V/H/S/99, which is going to be released through the Shudder streaming service on October 20th. But before that movie is released, Shudder subscribers are going to have a chance to see the Winters’ found footage horror comedy Deadstream, which is set to start streaming on October 6th. To help start building the hype for Deadstream, Shudder has released a trailer for the film – and you can watch it in the embed at the top of this article.

Written by the Winters, Deadstream follows

a disgraced internet personality who attempts to win back his followers by livestreaming one night alone in a haunted house. But when he accidentally pisses off a vengeful spirit, his big comeback event becomes a real-time fight for his life.

Joseph Winter stars in the film alongside Melanie Stone (We’re Alive: Frontier) and Jason K. Wixom (The 13th Cross).

Shudder says Deadstream is “a rare horror comedy as frightening as it is funny. The Winters have boldly announced themselves as exciting emerging talent ready to take the genre scene by storm.” The Winters produced the film with Stone and cinematographer Jared Cook, who also appears on screen.

I’m not generally a fan of found footage horror, but the fact that this one has a comedic element has me somewhat intrigued. I’ll watch it if it gets good word of mouth.
