Sometimes those bastards at Syfy are so genius, so incredibly smart and brilliant, so on the f*ckin’ money that it’s scary… and that’s why we love them so much. THRis reporting that Syfy has cast 80s pop icons Debbie Gibson (right) and Tiffany (below) together for the first time for their upcoming Saturday night original movie MEGA PYTHON VS GATOROID!!!
There are a number of reasons why this is significant. One, Debbie Gibson starred in the uber-popular Syfy original movie MEGA SHARK VS GIANT OCTOPUS, the film that some tribute to the rise of the MEGA movies, as it became oddly popular (mostly cause of the awesome title). Two, Tiffany starred in the equally awesome / epic MEGA PIRANHA, and reason for the uber-popular MEGA CAST, which combined the forces of the JoBlo Movie Podcast and the AITH Podcast for one reason: to discuss the awesomeness of MEGA PIRANHA.
Two pop icons, two MEGA movies in their back pocket, one MEGA movie in their future. Oh yes… it’s going to be good! So what is MEGA PYTHON VS GATOROID about anyway (not that it really matters)? Check it: Gibson will play a fanatical animal-rights activist who frees illegally imported exotic snakes from pet stores, sending them into the Everglades, where they grow to mega sizes. Tiffany will play an overzealous park ranger who uses dangerous methods to save endangered alligators.
The best part of this MEGA mash-up? Gibson and Tiffany fight each other! That’s right, apparently the two throw down at a party and fight so hard they have to take it outside to the surrounding swamp. Sound epic? You bet your ass it does. As Tiffany herself puts it, Only in my dreams have I been able to have a catfight with Debbie Gibson…until now! This is soo MEGA cool!
Produced by Asylum, the film is to be directed by PET SEMATARY director Mary Lambert (her first MEGA movie) with a script by Naomi Selfman, and is scheduled to start filming later this summer, with an air-date of sometime next year.
