What is it with the cast of Rob Zombie flicks? Are they really that big of a deal? For his past few movies Zombie has made a specific announcement for each cast member, which means we’ve got to write a specific article for each announcement. Now I get how most of these names are noticeable genre names and deserve the attention, but would it be much different if he just announced a few of them at once?
You see where I’m going with this, right? Today Zombie took to his Facebook page to announce the newest addition to his latest genre romp LORDS OF SALEM. So who’s the lucky actor or actress? How about veteran actress Dee Wallace! Check out Zombie’s post regarding the casting:
With less than 2 weeks until the start of filming the cast members are coming on board quickly. The latest addition to THE LORDS OF SALEM is our good friend DEE WALLACE. Dee plays the role of Sonny, a self-help guru.
Dee has appeared in so many beloved genre films such as The Hills Have Eyes, The Stepford Wives, The Howling, E.T.:The Extra-Terrestrial, Cujo, The Frightners, Halloween and The Haunted World Of El Superbeasto.
Along with tons of TV appearances from everything from 70’s hits: The Man From Atlantis, Police Woman, Starsky And Hutch to more recent shows like The Ghost Whisperer and My name Is Earl.
Most recently Dee took on the role of Andy’s Mom on the hit TV show The Office.
So there you have it! Sounds like the cast of this thing is just about final. Wallace joins Sheri Moon Zombie (below), Meg Foster, Ernest Thomas, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Torsten Voges and Bruce Dern in Zombie’s latest feature.
Heidi, a blonde rock chick, DJs at a local radio station, and together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster) forms part of the “Big H Radio Team”.
A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, “a gift from the Lords”. She assumes it’s a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords’ record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.
Later Whitey plays the Lords’ record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners.
The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H Team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they’re expecting: the original Lords of Salem are returning, and they’re out for BLOOD.
As Zombie pointed out filming is set to start in less than 2 weeks so expect a lot more updates on this thing once filming is underway.
