November 2019. What a different time it was when the erotic thriller Deep Water, the first new film from Jacob’s Ladder and Fatal Attraction director Adrian Lyne in almost twenty years, went into production. Since then a pandemic hit, Deep Water stars Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas had a relationship that the public watched come and go through tabloid pictures, Affleck reunited with his long-lost love Jennifer Lopez, and the release plans for Deep Water switched from theatrical to streaming release. The film is now set to reach the Hulu streaming service on March 18th (exclusively in the United States), and in anticipation of this release a trailer has arrived online. You can check it out in the embed above.

Based on a novel by The Talented Mr. Ripley author Patricia Highsmith (you can pick up a copy HERE), Deep Water takes us

inside the marriage of picture-perfect Vic (Affleck) and Melinda (de Armas) Van Allen to discover the dangerous mind games they play and what happens to the people that get caught up in them.

The original synopsis let us know that the characters played by Ben Affleck (Gone Girl) and Ana de Armas (No Time to Die) are

a small-town couple in a loveless marriage in which the wife is allowed to take lovers as long as she does not desert the family. However, complications arise when the husband takes credit for the unsolved murder of one of the former lovers.

Zach Helm and Sam Levinson wrote the screenplay for the film, which also stars Lil Rel Howery (Get Out), Kristen Connolly (The Cabin in the Woods), Tracy Letts (Homeland), Rachel Blanchard (Snakes on a Plane), Dash Mihok (Ray Donovan), Jacob Elordi (The Kissing Booth), Jade Fernandez (FBI), Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story), Michael Braun (The Affair), Grace Jenkins (The New Nanny), Brendan C. Miller (In Time), Devyn Tyler (Clarice), and Jeff Pope (Black Snake Moan).

Deep Water was produced by Arnon Milchan, Guymon Casady, Benjamin Forkner, and Anthony Katagas.
