del Toro Strains

I don’t know how Guillermo del Toro does it. I get easily distracted while writing a grocery list, and this guy just keeps on adding projects to his slate. How does he find the time? Does he actually live in some sort of HELLBOY-esque fantasyland where there are no clocks or calendars and he can work comfortably on any of the 83,902 ideas he’s got lined up? It’s damn impressive, I know that much.

While del Toro is hard at work on THE HOBBIT and a bunch of other things (including FRANKENSTEIN and HELLBOY III) he’ll also be toiling over a trio of vampire novels, reports WorldMag. Collaborating with crime author Chuck Hogan, del Toro aims to bring us the first book, entitled THE STRAIN, next summer.

“The idea is epic in scope,” del Toro said in a statement issued Wednesday by publisher William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins. “The trilogy advances in unexpected ways and each book contains unique and surprising revelations about the history, physiology and lore of the vampiric race, tracing its roots all the way back to its Old Testament origins.”

Sounds ambitious – but del Toro eats ambition for breakfast and craps the stuff dreams are made of… That beautiful imagery brought to you by Arrow in the Head!
