If you’re anything like us here at AITH, you’re looking for a return to form of badass vampires. Enough of the glitter, enough of the unrequited love-fests and manic depressive mood-swings we’ve seen of late – we need some bloodsuckers who actually remember how to use their damn fangs. And that’s why we’re stoked to shed some shine on a new BBC America series called “Demons,” which could very well be the answer we’re all searching for.
Staking the small screen on January 2, 2010 – “Demons” definitely looks to restore the menacing cool vampires were once synonymous with. But as the title alludes to, vampires won’t be the only deadly ghouls out for blood. Werewolves, wererats, psychics, even “demons in angels clothing” will all pose a threat to our leading characters.
Speaking of, Christian Cooke (“Doctor Who”) plays Luke, a teenager whose life is interrupted by the arrival of an old family friend, Rupert (played by Philip Glenister, “Life on Mars”). Rupert reveals that Luke is the great-great grandson of vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing and must carry on the family business.
Hmm. A teenaged hero? I’m already raising white flags!
Rounding out the cast is Holly Grainger, Saskia Wickham, Paul Vigrass and Zoe Tapper (below). The series is installed in 6, 60 minute segments.
