Details revealed for Phantasm: Ravager and Remastered DVD/Blu-rays

Phantasm: Ravager Reggie Bannister David Hartman Don Coscarelli

Last month, we heard that PHANTASM: RAVAGER will be reaching DVD and Blu-ray on December 6th. That date has now been confirmed by Diabolik DVD, who have also revealed details on the special features we can expect to see on the discs.

The latest (and final?) sequel in the PHANTASM franchise, RAVAGER tells the following story:

For 37 years, audiences have followed small town friends Reggie, Mike, and Jody in their quest to stop the evil, dimension-hopping schemes of The Tall Man (Angus Scrimm in his final performance) and his armada of killer Sentinel Spheres.  Now, Don Coscarelli’s acclaimed horror/sci-fi Phantasm franchise comes to a close in a truly epic finale, a multi-dimensional battle across multiple timelines, alien planets, and altered realities, where no less than the fate of Earth is on the line.

The bonus features on the DVD/Blu will include:

– Audio Commentary with Director David Hartman and Writer / Producer Don Coscarelli

– Behind the Scenes

– Deleted Scenes

– Phuntasm: Bloopers and Outtakes

– Trailer

Sounds like a solid release, and I'm very interested in hearing what Hartman and Coscarelli have to say on the commentary for what may be the most mind-bending installment in this nightmare logic series.

Also on December 6th, the remastered version of the original PHANTASM will be released on Blu-ray with the following special features:

– New 5.1 Surround Sound

– Original Mono Track

– Audio Commentary with Director & Writer Don Coscarelli, Michael Baldwin (Mike), Angus Scrimm (The Tall Man), and Bill Thornbury (Joan)

– Graveyard Carz Episode

– Interviews from 1979 with Don Coscarelli and Angus Scrimm

– Deleted Scenes

– Trailers

Graveyard Carz episode aside, those sound like the same extras that have been on previous releases of PHANTASM, but the main draw for this one is the cleaned-up picture and sound.
