Dexter revival: Four join Michael C. Hall and Clancy Brown in the cast

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The initial eight season run of Dexter came to an end back in 2013 (those eight seasons can be purchased at THIS LINK) – but next month, Michael C. Hall will be bringing Dexter to life once again when Showtime's limited series revival of the show starts filming in Massachusetts. We've previously heard that Clancy Brown will be playing the primary villain of the revival: Kurt Caldwell, "the unofficial mayor of the small town of Iron Lake". Caldwell's a former truck driver who now owns several trucks and the local truck stop. Now four more actors have joined Hall and Brown in the cast.

Consisting of 10 episodes, the revival has the following synopsis:

Set 10 years after Dexter Morgan went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura, the revival sees the character now living under an assumed name in a world away from Miami.

Thanks to the new casting announcement, we now know that this "world away from Miami" isn't Oregon, where Dexter was at the end of the season 8 finale. These new episodes are set in upstate New York.

Julia Jones (The Mandalorian, Westworld) is taking on the role of Angela Bishop, "the first Native American Chief of Police in her town in upstate New York". Johnny Sequoyah (Believe, Wind Walkers) will play Audrey, "Bishop's brash and opinionated teenage daughter". Alano Miller (Underground, Jane the Virgin) has been cast as Logan, "a sergeant for the Iron Lake Police Department and the assistant wrestling coach for the local high school". And Jack Alcott (The Blacklist, The Good Lord Bird) will play Randall, "with whom Dexter has a meaningful encounter".

Hall is executive producing the Dexter revival with showrunner Clyde Phillips (who also served as showrunner on the first four seasons of Dexter's original run), John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Bill Carraro, Scott Reynolds, and Marcos Siega, who will be directing six of the episodes. Siega previously directed nine episodes of Dexter over the course of its second, third, and fourth seasons.

I never watched Dexter, but this revival won me over as soon as Clancy Brown was cast as a villainous truck stop owner.
