Previously announced additions include:
- Brian Cox (Manhunter) as the New York Ripper, a serial killer who terrorized the city years earlier and continues to torment survivors of his crimes.
- Dan Stevens (The Guest) as Owen Stark, also known as the Five Borough Killer, a murderer who taunts police with threatening calls before carrying out his attacks.
- Gabriel Luna (The Last of Us) as Ray Ballard, a serial killer known as the Sleepy-Eyed Stranger.
- Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo) as Captain Mixon.
- Nona Parker Johnson as Fiona Mixon.
- Kane Hodder in an undisclosed role.
With Dexter now operating in New York, season 2 appears ready to continue expanding the franchise’s new era while introducing a fresh collection of killers for the iconic antihero to confront.
What is Dexter: Resurrection about?
The original Dexter series ran for eight seasons and 96 episodes from 2006 to 2013, following Dexter Morgan, a Miami Metro Police Department blood spatter analyst who secretly works as a vigilante serial killer. After the 2021 revival series Dexter: New Blood appeared to bring the story to an end, Showtime continued expanding the franchise with the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin and the sequel series Dexter: Resurrection.
The first season of Dexter: Resurrection continued Dexter’s story following the events of New Blood, bringing Michael C. Hall back as the character fans have followed for two decades.
When will Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 premiere?
Production on Dexter: Resurrection season 2 began in April 2026, with filming once again taking place in New York City. The new season comes from Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios, with Clyde Phillips returning as executive producer alongside Michael C. Hall, Scott Reynolds, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns. Marcos Siega serves as producing director.
A release date for Dexter: Resurrection season 2 has not yet been announced, but the series is expected to return in late 2026.
