Alicia Vikander certainly appears to have murder on the mind as of late. After recently completing work on Ferdinando Cito Filomarino's Born to Be Murdered it's been announced the Oscar-winning actress is developing a Dial M For Murder anthology series at MGM/UA Television. In addition to serving as an executive producer on the project via her Vikarious Film studio, Vikander is also thinking about taking on a central role for the upcoming thriller.
The project, based on Frederick Knott’s play and the Alfred Hitchcock film of the same name, will be reimagined as a harrowing story of murder and betrayal from a female point of view. Michael Mitnick (The Giver) is creating and writing the series with Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter. Previously, Mitnick wrote HBO's Vinyl, which had been co-created and executive produced by Winter.
The original Dial M For Murder centers on a former tennis player (played by Ray Milland in Hitchcock's 1954 film) who tries to arrange his wife's (Grace Kelly) murder after learning of her affair. Should Vikander star in the series, it's to be thought that she'll play the part of Margot Wendice, the story's calculated female lead.
Up next for Vikander is a role as activist Gloria Steinem for the upcoming biographical drama THE GLORIAS. Vikander will play the icon as she was between the ages of 20 and 40, for a story that focuses on the feminist icon's itinerant childhood and its influence on her life as a writer, activist, and organizer for women's rights worldwide.
