After digging through the midwestern politics of Pawnee, Indiana, Amy Poehler is ready to grab a shovel and a spade for her next major comedy series, Dig! The 10-episode comedy hails from The Good Place creator Michael Schur and Parks and Recreation co-creator Dan Goor, reuniting a legendary creative brain trust for a project that blends high-stakes archeology with unadulterated workplace absurdity. Featuring a stacked ensemble cast of fresh faces alongside certified comedy royalty, this one is shaping up to be an absolute must-see TV event.
Unearthing the Plot
Airing exclusively on Peacock beginning on November 23, Dig follows a team of ridiculously dedicated archeologists and an equally unbothered crew of summer college interns who spend their season baking in the sun at a remote excavation site in Greece. When their routine unearthing turns up a shockingly rare ancient artifact, the discovery triggers a chaotic domino effect, thrusting the team into the adventure of a lifetime.
A Stacked Comedy Cast
Adapted from Kate Myers’ bestselling novel Excavations, the series is anchored by Saturday Night Live legend Amy Poehler as Elise, the headstrong archeologist trying to keep her eccentric crew from completely derailing the project. Poehler is joined by an incredible main cast including Hugh Laurie, Geraldine Viswanathan (Drive-Away Dolls), Antonia Thomas (The Good Doctor), and Fina Strazza, with Kayvan Novak (What We Do in the Shadows), Jon Pointing, and Bonita Friedericy rounding out the core group. If you keep your eyes peeled during the inaugural trailer, you’ll catch an absurdly stacked roster of guest appearances, including Max Greenfield, Jason Mantzoukas, Brennan Lee Mulligan, Noma Dumezweni, and Dan Bucatinsky.
Madcap Shenanigans Await
The trailer promises every bit of the snappy, heart-filled, and utterly ridiculous humor you’d expect from the creative minds behind Parks and Rec and The Good Place. The unique setting of an archeological dig opens the door for endless madcap shenanigans, where a desperate race for fame, funding, and historical glory is only the tip of a much larger, hilarious iceberg for Elise and her ragtag team.
Dig comes to Peacock on November 23.
