Digital Grudge

With THE GRUDGE 2 coming hard and fast for its October 13th release date, the genius that is Sam Raimi has produced three exclusive shorts that will be part of an extensive digital marketing campaign to promote the film, which stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Amber Tamblyn, Arielle Kebbel, Teresa Palmer, Jennifer Beals, Takako Fuji and Edison Chen.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the shorts will be available for downloading to fans’ mobile phones, or you can watch ’em at the film’s official site. In addition to the shorts, those willing to volunteer their mobile phone number will receive a suprise call from Kayako or Toshio, the ghosts at the heart of the movie’s plot!

Dwight Caines, Columbia TriStar Marketing Group executive vp worldwide digital marketing strategy (now THAT is a job title!), said these and other aspects of the campaign were designed to suggest that the sequel to the 2004 horror hit would take the original’s story to “the next level” as it ranges beyond the haunted house of the first film. Here’s hoping that the film lives up to expectations.

And here’s me hoping that Sarah gives up the ‘Gellars’. Either that, or Bruce cameos.
