Do you guys remember that SUSPIRIA remake that’s in the works? You should because this thing has been bouncing around for a couple years now and director David Gordon Green is still expecting to do it. Oh joy…

The guys over at ComingSoon/ShockTillYouDrop sat down with Green recently to chat about his upcoming R-rated comedy THE SITTER. After talk of THE SITTER was over they couldn’t help but ask where Green stands on this SUSPIRIA remake, and if Darren Aronofsky’s BLACK SWAN took any momentum away from it. Check out Green’s response:

“No, that adds to it. That means there’s an audience for prestige in genre, and to me, that’s exciting. We’re really close to getting that movie made if I can get over a couple more budgetary hurdles I think I can pull it off. My version doesn’t really have any similarities to “Black Swan,” but it proves to the marketplace that you can take a great risk and you can have something that has great artistic ambition, but also has incredible commercial appeal.”

That works I guess. No telling if Natalie Portman is still being eyed for the starring role or when things might start moving along. Here’s hoping this one ends up falling apart!

Green also chatted about his upcoming adaptation of the Steve Niles/Greg Ruth graphic novel FREAKS OF THE HEARTLAND. To check that out just head right over HERE.

As always we’ll keep our eyes open for more info on either film and as soon as those updates roll our way we’ll be sure to pass them right along to all of you.
