Deathcember

Horror anthologies consisting of segments directed by a variety of filmmakers have proven to be rather popular in recent years, with some of the examples being V/H/S/, THE ABCs OF DEATH, SOUTHBOUND, and A CHRISTMAS HORROR STORY. Now producers Dominic Saxl, Ivo Scheloske, and Frank Vogt are assembling their own horror anthology, a Christmas-themed one called DEATHCEMBER

Described as "the world's first cinematic Advent calendar", DEATHCEMBER will be

filled with 24 short films about the dark side of the festive season, by 24 directors from around the globe.

They will deliver merry tales of Christmas terror and holiday horror, ranging from classic scares to black humor to sci-fi to splatter. Their shorts will be connected by animated sequences.

This animated frame story takes you on a wild ride through the world of a demonic Advent calendar that acts as a portal to the netherworld, with 24 doors that open to 24 different visions of hell.

The filmmakers who will be directing the 24 segments of DEATHCEMBER (plus 3 bonus shorts!) are: Ruggero Deodato, Lucky McKee, Trent Haaga, Julian Richards, Pollyanna McIntosh, Jason Rostovsky, Jurgen Kling, Annika Marx, Dominic Saxl, Chelsea Stardust, Remi Frechette, Andreas Marschall, Isaac Ezban, Milan Todorovic, Lazar Bodroza, Sadrac Gonzalez-Perellon, John Lynch, Ama Lea, Lee Sang-Woo, Michael Varrati, Steve De Roover, Sonia Escolano, Vivienne Vaughn, Bob Pipe, Florian Frerichs, Sam Wineman, and the duo of BJ Colangelo and Zach Schildwachter.

DEATHCEMBER is currently in production and the aim is to have the project in post-production after the end of March. The plan is to get the film released sometime in 2020, or possibly even by December 2019.

While production is fully funded, the producers are running a Kickstarter campaign in hopes of making the animated sequences that tie the segments together more visually impressive than they might be otherwise. That campaign is at THIS LINK.

I enjoy anthologies and like the sound of this one, especially since one of the segments will be set on my birthday, so I'm looking forward to seeing how DEATHCEMBER turns out.
