District 9 teaser

No movie is more under the radar this summer than DISTRICT 9, from producer Peter Jackson and director Neill Blomkamp. Perhaps it’s because the summer season is so crammed with explosion-heavy action extravaganzas and kid flicks, or maybe Sony is just guessing that the film won’t reach a massive audience anyway because of its heady subject matter. No matter, it’s still a flick we should be looking forward to, as we need more smart sci-fi in our lives.

The trailer has just premiered, and of course we got it for yo ass. It’s really just a teaser, giving you the basic idea of what should be a complex and odd piece of work from Blomkamp, who one point was supposed to direct the HALO movie. DISTRICT 9 is based on Blomkamp’s terrific short film ALIVE IN JOBURG, which you should definitely seek out.

Just watch and be intrigued. And check out them F/X! DISTRICT 9 comes out on AUGUST 14th.
