Doctor Who’s Matt Smith joins Burr Steers’ Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

We've heard word on a lot of casting for Burr Steers' upcoming PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES over the past few weeks, with recent additions to the adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith novel including Emma Greenwell, Douglas Booth, Lily James, Sam Riley, Jack Huston, and Bella Heathcote. Now THR is reporting that "Doctor Who" star Matt Smith has joined the long-in-the-works, on-and-off again project.

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES…

…opens as a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton-and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she’s soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers-and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield as Elizabeth wages war against hordes of flesh-eating undead."

Smith will play Mr. Collins, a parson who is on the lookout for a wife and proposes to Bennett.

Scripted by Steers and David O. Russell, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES will be produced by Natalie Portman, Marc Butan, Sean McKittrick, Brian Oliver, Annette Savitch, Allison Shearmur and Tyler Thompson.
