Just yesterday. it was announced that Dimension Films had acquired Im Global and Blumhouse Productions’ ANGRY LITTLE GOD, which is to be Daniel Stamm’s follow-up to THE LAST EXORCISM. Today we learn that the film already might have its leading man tied up.
According to Variety, Mark Webber is “in talks” to star in ANGRY LITTLE GOD. The site doesn’t specify the role, but we’d guess that it’s the lead character, a man who finds himself caught up in an escalating game of life or death. Webber has been seen in plenty of indie flicks, such as BROKEN FLOWERS, THE HOTTEST STATE and LIFE IS HOT IN CRACKTOWN. Perhaps his “biggest’ movie is SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD, in which he entertainingly played “Stephen Stills.”
If Webber does indeed end up starring in ANGRY LITTLE GOD, he’ll play an engaged man who is desperate to solve his financial problems prior to his wedding. He receives a mysterious phone call informing him that he’s on a hidden camera gameshow where he can win over $6 million if he executes 13 tasks. He accepts the challenge, but even with thousands of dollars suddenly appearing in his bank account, he quickly realizes he’s in over his head. Trapped into the horrors manipulated by unseen spectators, his need to finish the game escalates as the tasks grow more extreme.
No word on when ANGRY LITTLE GOD is scheduled to start production.
