The last update we got on the vampire flick THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER came back in March, when we learned that Stefan Ruzowitzky would be directing the project. Alright… so DEMETER is yet to strike my interest, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Well folks I think it’s safe to say today’s news might change your tune a bit…
You see according to the LA Times’s 24 Frames, it seems THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER has scored it’s first two cast members in Sir Ben Kingsley and THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO’s Noomi Rapace! … Well needless to say this thing has just shot up my most anticipated list! Or at least it’s making me take a second and actually pay attention a little… The LA Times also have an inkling of what the flick might be about aside from the whole ‘people on boat get slaughtered’ plot that’s been floating around. THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER is about the ill-fated journey of Dracula’s coffin from Transylvania to England. When the boat arrived in England it had no survivors on board.
Yes! So we’re talking Dracula going buck-wild on a boat full of unlucky souls.. Sh*t I’m down! Toss in Rapace and Kingsley and we might actually have something! Word has it Rapace will be playing a stowaway on the boat and that the search is still on for a lead actor. Could Kingsley be playing the fabled vampire? Time will tell!
