We haven’t really seen a good dragon-attacks-kills-chaos movie in a long time. Perhaps never. REIGN OF FIRE fell short of being phat, DRAGONHEART was too kid-friendly, and DRAGONSLAYER was cool- in a cheesy ’80s kind of way (we won’t even mention Roland Emmerich’s GODZILLA- I’m still in pain because of that one).
Now, make way for D-WAR! What the hell is D-WAR you may ask? Here’s a little summary for ya:
Based on the Korean legend, unknown creatures will return and devastate the planet. Reporter Ethan Kendrick is called in to investigate the matter, and he arrives at the conclusion that a girl stricken with a mysterious illness named Sarah is suppose to help him. The Imoogi makes its way to Los Angeles, wreaking havoc and destruction. With the entire city under arms, will Ethan and Sarah make it in time to save the people of Los Angeles?
That really doesn’t give the flick as much justice as it’s Official Website does- where you can check out the intensley-awesome-special-effect-filled trailer and ‘pre-visualized short’. Let’s just say, it blows all other dragon movies out of the water!
We’re talking mass destruction on L.A. by dragons, dino’s, and big ass lizards all sporting missle launchers, and other sweat ass firepower. Lots of effects, almost looking more like a video-game than a movie- but hey, it’s still early in the game, plenty of time to clean it up. This flick just looks like plain ol’ entertaining fun!

Hyung-rae Shim, D-WAR is definately one to keep on the radar as it nears completion.
