Dream House: 2011 Daniel Craig film is being rebooted by Morgan Creek

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The folks at Park Circus recently sat down for an interview with the team at the Morgan Creek production company, and during their conversation some very unexpected news was revealed: Morgan Creek is currently "firmly in the packaging stage" on a reboot of the 2011 psychological thriller Dream House (watch it HERE), which starred Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, and Marton Csokas.

This is surprising not only because Dream House just came out ten years ago, but also because nobody seemed to care about Dream House to begin with. Made on a budget of $50 million, it only pulled in $21.3 million at the domestic box office, with another $18.6 million coming in from its international release. It ended up with just short of $40 million.

Directed by Jim Sheridan from a screenplay by David Loucka, Dream House had the following synopsis:

Publisher Will Atenton (Craig) quits a lucrative job in New York to relocate his wife, Libby (Weisz), and their daughters to a quaint town in New England. As they settle into their home, however, the Atentons discover that a woman and her children were murdered there, and the surviving husband is the town's prime suspect. With help from a neighbor (Watts) who was close to the murdered family, Will pieces together a horrifying chain of events.

It was said that Sheridan was so unhappy with the final cut of the film that he wanted his name taken off of it. Craig and Weisz apparently weren't too fond of the film, either.

Maybe the reboot will be more successful, and maybe the director and cast will be satisfied with the result this time around.
