Hey kids, now it’s not usually my style to get all H.G. Wells up in the hizz-ouse, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. And I tell you compadres, one of the Old Ones is awakening.
That’s right, it appears that Hammer Films (DRACULA, THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN), that venerable but defunct horror studio from the old days is getting its bloody fist back into the mix. They are partnering with Britain’s Random Harvest and Stan Winston Productions to set up Harvest Pictures III. The focus will be, no surprise, sharp low-budget fare like 28 DAYS LATER and SAW, in order to maximize quality (and profits no doubt).
Let me see, add 1 part classic horror company, 1 part classic effects company and 1 part um…something else. OK, carry the 3, multiply by x…well lookie, lookie, it all equals one helluva a promising start up.
The first two features on their slate are PERFECT SIGHT and THE BEETLE. Both are set to shoot in early summer. More info on those as it comes in.
