Dungeons & Dragons, TV

Although a big-screen adaptation of the popular fantasy role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons is currently in development, THR has reported that Hasbro's eOne production studio is also developing a Dungeons & Dragons TV series. Next up, a podcast and officially licensed bed pans.

The Dungeons & Dragons TV series is still in the early stages, but the studio has tapped Derek Kolstad, the writer behind the John Wick franchise, to write the script and develop a pitch for the series. THR added that eOne are also looking for more writers to develop various other projects that will be set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, so get ready for more dungeons and…dragons…than you know what to do with. My ignorance of the franchise is showing, isn't it? In addition to all three John Wick movies, Derek Kolstad is also known for Marvel's upcoming The Falcon and the Winter Soldier TV series which will debut on Disney+ on March 19, 2021, as well as Nobody, an action/thriller starring Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) that will debut on February 26, 2021.

As for the Dungeons & Dragons movie, that project is slated to be directed by Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley (Game Night), who also penned the script that was based on a draft by Michael Gilio. It was also announced last month that Chris Pine (Wonder Woman 1984) will be starring in the film and that production is expected to kick off later this year.
