During a press conference for his new movie SAN ANDREAS, Dwayne Johnson confirmed that his Luke Hobbs character will be back for the eighth installment in the Fast & Furious franchise. Big surprise, right? Well, Johnson also says there's still talk of doing a spinoff, and the actor revealed that he just recently had a conversation with Universal about a Hobbs movie.
Here's the full quote from Johnson about the possible spinoff:
We all are interested in it. I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we’ll see. I still think for me personally we’ve created a little bit of space for him in 7 and the gauge is set for what the audience will want. That’s my take on it, you know, but a lot of other people have to have input.
One of the complaints a few people had about FURIOUS 7 was that it didn't have enough of Johnson's Hobbs, and I know some would love to see a spinoff film featuring his character. Are you down for a Luke Hobbs-centric spinoff?
SAN ANDREAS will be in theaters on May 29, 2015, and FURIOUS 8 (not the official title, by the way) is scheduled to be released on April 14, 2017.
