Marvel Studios, are you okay? It isn’t like you to share something as brutal as the Echo trailer, starring Alaqua Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio as two sides of the same face-rearranging coin.

No bad deed goes unpunished on January 10, 2024, when Marvel Studios’ Echo launches on Disney+ and Hulu. Check out the all-new trailer and poster revealed this morning. The five-episode streaming event spotlights Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) as she is pursued by Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) criminal empire. When the journey brings her home, she must confront her own family and legacy. All five episodes will stream on January 10 on both platforms. They’ll be available on Hulu until April 9. This marks the first Marvel Studios series to drop all entirely bingeable episodes at once.
Echo also stars Chaske Spencer (Wild Indian, The English), Graham Greene (1883, Goliath), Tantoo Cardinal (Killers of the Flower Moon, Stumptown), Devery Jacobs (FX’s Reservation Dogs, American Gods), Zahn McClarnon (Dark Winds, FX’s Reservation Dogs), and Cody Lightning (Hey, Viktor!, Four Sheets to the Wind).
Today’s Echo trailer opens with a flashback in which D’Onofrio’s Kingpin attacks a man in an alley, beating him senselessly and spilling blood all over the concrete. As a frightened Echo stares in shock at his display of ultra-violence, Kingpin tells her not to be afraid. The scene implies the stranger is about to reveal himself as a pedophile, so perhaps Kingpin was in the right to transform his face into hamburger meat.
As the preview continues, we witness Marvel Studios’ most violent series to date, with multiple scenes of savagery signaling a significant change in tone for the five-episode superhero series. With blood, bullets, and brain matter flying through the air, it’s clear that Echo is for mature audiences.
This begs the question: Is Marvel’s Echo rated TV-MA? You must set your Disney+ profile to TV-MA to view the trailer, so I’ll let you decide. Is this a taste of the violence to come once Marvel’s Daredevil airs on the mouse-eared streaming service? I certainly hope so!
