Eddie Izzard as a creepy grandfather? Yep, that’ll do…
TV Line has it that NBC has cast Izzard (above) as Grandpa in the studio’s “Munsters” reboot, now to be referred to as “Mockingbird Lane.” Bryan Singer is set to direct the pilot episode, though production has been bumped from this month to early summer. You can expect to hear more casting updates between now and then, no doubt.
Morphed from a campy TV comedy to a more visual oriented hour long drama:
The madness begins when a baby bear attacks a scouting trip, only it turns out that this “bear” is actually Eddie transformed into a werewolf. Eddie is unaware of his metamorphosis and it forces the family to move in order to protect the family secret. The coming of age story gets weirder as he fights against his family when he learns of a shocker: they’re a family of flesh-eaters!
Sounds pretty gnarly. Izzard has the ability to turn the peculiar into the uncomfortable, so I have zero doubt dude will kill it as Grandpa. Question then lies in script quality and his supporting cast.
Who do you think should play the rest of Munster family?
